Anniversary and mammoth stupidity

Today is the anniversary of my car crash. And of course, I am fully recovered.
Or not. Fully mobile and outwardly healthy, but utterly dependent on massive amounts of painkillers and pathetically restricted still on activities. But getting there, can now drive for an hour or so, and can do MOST things as long as I'm painkillered up and accept that some things sure can hurt. And don't swim or have a bath, or have a drink.

Today we visited the Hull and East Riding Museum, of which better descriptions than mine can be found here.
Really interesting again, lots and lots to see, even if a certain 4 year old's toilet fixation meant I spent an unnatural time journeying between facilities. A huge Woolly Mammoth was in the first room, to which the genius to my left exclaimed "ooh, that's a big elephant". Hmm. Not, incidentally, any of the people I was with, although the children could have been excused.

Hull itself, which we explored a little after, is a fascinating city. Last time we unfairly compared it to York, which is magnificent, but it is still rather fantastic. A little sad, it is lacking the lustre and glory of other cities (for example,York) but it still has a lot to offer. McDonalds and Lush in our case, but that's not Hull's fault. The whole Museum Quarter, where the Hull and East Riding Museum is (cunningly) located, has several museums of interest, including William Wilberforce House. Hull is, understandably, very proud of William Wilberforce, but slavery is perhaps not best presented to small children.

Hyperchondria

No. Not a spelling mistake.

A health filled day. Nurse's appointment marked me as healthy, normal weight (with over half a stone to spare!), slightly low blood pressure. Hurrah! Full health.

Or...

Doctor prescibed me new painkilling drugs to try to reduce the other drugs, and sent me for an x ray. (Which I haven't been for yet, plan to go tomorrow, which I was told was ok). Currently awaiting endoscopy for painkiller related stomach pain. Painkillers rule my life these days. I shan't miss them when they're gone.

Yes. I know. But to wash down a cocktail of 8 different pills with a glass of Andrews is a bit, well, irksome.

I also have the cold, which is such a minor inconvenience that I keep forgetting and then being surprised that I feel rough.

But!!! There is joy!!! I must profoundly thank the weather for bringing winter back. I thought they were teasing but no! Really cold. Boots dug out again!

Supposedly getting car tomorrow...

Ha. Delivery by end of March: predicted arrival on Wednesday.

Assignments

Last ever assignment posted. Gone. Bye bye.

(not including dissertation to be done after summer. Or exams next month).

Obviously, studies have been unsuspended. It still hurts - lots -to sit at a computer, but I've got a sofa/laptop thing that works as long as I break often, and 2010 is the year for Getting On With Things.

Painkiller dependence to be addressed later...

Troubles

The trouble with going back to studying is that there's work to be done. And the trouble with being all brave and stoical is that pain that hasn't gone away doesn't go away just because you decide to get on with it. No, it gets a bit worse. But the trouble with acknowledging that is that nothing will ever happen if you wait for everything to be right.

The trouble with procrastination is that the last minute becomes very stressful...

Poor me

No. Not interesting. I don't feel like being interesting. I feel like wallowing in self pity instead.

I have a (very) sore neck AND HAVE DONE FOR NEARLY ELEVEN MONTHS which is more than a little TEDIOUS.

Yes. I know.

Ow.

Not that long ago I was bemoaning the fact that nothing ever happens.
I didn't realise that this was good.
I hurt.
Lots and lots and lots.
I have whiplash. Doesn't sound much, but it's rubbishy rubbish. I am completely crap. I now can't do:

Sitting up for long
Being on the computer (thank you iBaby)
Remembering stuff or understanding things
Driving (but I don't want to)
Turning my head
Using my arms to lift anything heavier than a phone
Bending

But I have many tasty painkillers so I sleep lots. And I've been exempt from doing most things. It's not all bad.
Whiplash! It sounds so nothingy.

My car is relatively unscathed and is merely awaiting a new bumper. I've had a Focus to not drive this week, it's rather nice.
The RAC are the greatest organisation in the world.
Everyone join the RAC. They are amazing in the event of an accident.

Although everyone's been pretty nice, especially the personal injury lawyers sniffing a case.

Not the police, who I blame entirely for the whole thing and who *apparently* don't like affronted missies being stroppily sarcastic at them.

That, I'm sorry to say is that. A pain in the neck is indeed a pain in the neck and so my mind is occupied.

When you say nothing at all

Ow
Ouch
Ow
Ouch
Ow
Ouch

I've jiggered my back. One of those bending pop ouch things that really hurts.

No, that's not entirely true. It only hurts if I walk, bend, sit or lie down. Standing completely still is fine.

Dammit.

How to lose friends: the email method.
So, I'm not at my finest of a morning. A little tetchy at best. I tend to avoid people at this time as it tends to end in tears usually.
Mine, through contrition, but still. Not so today, no, I systematically sent a snippit reply to the emails in my inbox today. The personal ones, I doubt Amazon et al would care. I didn't mean it, it just happened. And then I'll moan that no one ever emails.

Sigh.

Ow.
Ouch.
Feel sorry for me, even though I'm horrid.
